Valentines Special: MTV The Challenge’s Most Entertaining Exes
It’s Valentines Day! While COVID has ruined my dating life for the last year, Valentines Day is still a great holiday because you get to buy flowers for your mom and make her happy. More importantly, you also get some random texts from people you used to hook up with, which generally only means one thing. Why am I telling you this? I don’t know, but here’s a quick of list of some of the most entertaining Challenge Exes throughout the years:
Also, if you want a heartwarming video, my podcast partner made this video celebrating her three favorite Challenge couples ever:
Honorable Mention: Aneesa and Cory
Cory trash-talking Aneesa throughout Bloodlines just for her to end up in his bed every night was wild. Then on Dirty 30, she was trying to seduce Cory in the Redemption House, which honestly, I believe they had sex inside because there is nothing else to do inside of there besides drink and workout. What makes it hilarious in 2021 is that Cory treats Aneesa like his aunt these days. Weird.
Adam and Brittany — Battle of the Exes 2
Adam would tell everyone all day he hated Brittany; then, at night, he’d be asking her to call him daddy in bed. Brittany had the weird ability to only listen to 3% of what Adam says, a talent in its own right. They also won 3 eliminations!
Jasmine and Tyrie — Battle of the Exes
Jasmine cheated on her boyfriend with Tyrie, then proceeded to refer to him as her older brother. Their chaotic relationship on Battle of the Exes 1 was one of the few bright spots of entertainment for a season that went too predictably for the first half of the season. The Twitter Wall fight is maybe the greatest shit they should have shown moment in Challenge history.
Knight and Jemmye — Battle of the Exes 2
It’s surreal thinking about how their first season together (Battle of the Seasons), Knight and Jemmye were already broken up. He was trying to win her back after cheating on her. Despite this, it always felt like they were together because they had so much comedic chemistry. Knight was one of the funniest people in this show’s history, and I think Jemmye played off of him well. They would always go much farther into seasons than they should have because people liked having them around. Even with all their fighting and low-blows to one another, they still cared about each other when it came down to brass tacks. One of my all-time favorite scenes is on Exes 2; people in the house were confused whether Knight and Jemmye are flirting or fighting while cursing each other out during a daily challenge. They blurred the lines so well that you don’t even think they were Exes.
CT and Diem — Battle of the Exes 1 and 2
Sometimes my brain wants to be a hipster and underplay how meaningful the CT and Diem relationship was. Then I rewatch clips, and the chemistry and love between the two is undebatable. They feel like the biggest reason why the Exes format worked. Fans were emotionally invested in their relationship and wanted to see them make it to the end together. When it comes to Diem and CT, the moments that my brain remembers are the heartwarmingly good ones. My brain usually wouldn’t find those entertaining, but there was just something different about the two of them. CT giving Diem her boxers and wearing her thong for the Exes 1 final is one of the most endearing moments in Challenge history. RIP Diem.
